Thorntown Vegetation Cut-Back
11/5/2025
Also note, any vegetation growing into the secondary power lines (from the transformer to a riser/meter base on the side of a structure, etc.) is the sole responsibility of the individual property owner. If you have vegetation growing into the power lines coming into your home/structure, you will need to make separate arrangements with a tree service to have this cleared, as Mint City will not be clearing this type of overgrowth.
The Town intends to commence its own intensive vegetation cut-back effort beginning in November and involving the streets, alleys, and sidewalks. This is an attempt to clear line-of-sight (including traffic signs), ease of travel, and street light efficiency.
We will attempt to obtain an overhead street clearance of 18', overhead sidewalk clearance of 10', and a right-of-way clearance of 10' (from the edge of the street). This process will occur throughout the Fall and Winter.
Please call the Thorntown Utilities Office at 765-436-2627 with any questions or concerns.
Thank you!
