*NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING FOR THE UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE* 

The Thorntown Advisory Plan Commission will hold a Public Meeting to share information on upcoming changes to Thorntown’s zoning ordinances on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Thorntown Town Hall, 101 W. Main St., Thorntown, IN 46071. Over the course of this year, a consultant team has written a new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to replace and consolidate all of Thorntown’s existing development regulations. The new UDO is intended to provide easier to understand regulations and standards, clearer approval processes, and greater protection from development patterns that contradict the Comprehensive Plan and threaten the character of Thorntown.

This meeting is to provide information about important changes the new UDO will implement and give residents the opportunity to ask questions about the UDO before adoption of the new ordinance is formally considered. There will be a presentation from the consultant team, and then interested persons desiring to ask questions, either in writing or verbally, will be given the opportunity to be heard at the above-mentioned time and place.

Copies of the proposed UDO are on file in the Town Hall located at 101 W. Main Street for examination before the meeting during business hours between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. A copy of the proposed UDO will appear on the web page at www.townofthorntown.com, APC meeting agendas – January 12, 2026 prior to the meeting date.
