Public Hearing for Ordinance Amending Sewer Use

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF SEWER USE ORDINANCE

Property owners, rate payers and other interested parties in or served by the Town of Thorntown Sewer Utility (the “Utility”), are hereby notified that Ordinance No. 2026-1 amending provisions of the Thorntown Code of Ordinances related to sewer usage (“Sewer Use Ordinance”) was introduced at a meeting of the Town Council held on February 2, 2026  The specific provisions of the Thorntown Code of Ordinances amended by Ordinance No. 2026-1 are Section 52.020 Prohibited Discharge Standards, Section 52.099 Reports of Changed Conditions, Section 52.135 Notification of Violation, Section 52.155 Judicial Enforcement Remedies and Section 52.999 Penalty.  At a meeting of the Thorntown Town Council, to be held at 7:00 p.m. on March 2, 2026 at the Thorntown Municipal Building located at 101 West Main Street, Thorntown, Indiana 46071, there will be a public hearing on Ordinance No. 2026-1.  At the hearing, interested persons may be heard concerning the amendments to the Sewer Use Ordinance established by Ordinance No. 2026-1 of the Town Council.  Ordinance No. 2026-1 makes such amendments effective from and after the adoption of the Ordinance. 

                                   

All other provisions of the Town’s Sewer Use Ordinance not amended by Ordinance No. 2026-1 will remain unchanged.  The complete text of Ordinance No. 2026-1 is available for examination and copying at the Office of the Clerk/Treasurer of the Town of Thorntown at 101 West Main Street, Thorntown, Indiana 46071 during normal business hours and will be available at the public hearing.

 

On March 2, 2026, the Town Council shall consider and may take action on the proposed Ordinance.
